13th-Century Tuscan Estate

The history of the property:

As far as we know, this beautiful building was built in the 13th century.

The ground floor, where the manager still bears witness to its history, served as a resting place for stagecoach horses.

The post house, a stopover between Pisa and Florence, was also located here. Stagecoaches, along with their horses, riders, and sometimes their fellow travelers, would rest here for a few days.

On average, the building was expanded every 100 years, and sometimes an extra floor was added.

Over the centuries, a total of three floors were added, and in 1700, a restaurant and bar were added.

Around 1830, a copper mine opened in the nearby forest, and the population had grown to over 1,400, with three churches and no fewer than four shops.

Due to the growing economy in the area and the number of residents and business visitors, the building was converted into a hotel and remained in use until the early 1900s.

During the First and Second World Wars, the building served various purposes:

After 1945, the building was purchased by a Sardinian sheep farmer to live there and produce butter and cheese, hence its former name “La Burraia.”

In 1999, the building was completely renovated, and the swimming pool wasn’t completed until 2002.

In 2010, the current owners took over the property and have since modernized, renovated, and made it more attractive.

 

 

The accommodation now:

The fully furnished commercial space is being sold in its current condition, with everything included except for a few personal items and the owner’s art and antiques. The new owner can continue running the business immediately and receive future bookings.

The accommodation can accommodate (depending on the layout of the new owner) between 20 and 30 guests, and it’s very suitable for Wedding Venue, Retreats, Yoga, Coaching, Guidance, Teamwork – 8 Apartments – Restaurant – Bar.
