Lierna is located in the Casentino “Il Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi”:
The Forester Casentinesi National Park, The forests of the park are among the most extensive of Italy.

Fifty percent of the park area is forested. The mountain is steep and the valleys are deep. At the most southern tip of the park lies the mountain of Verna with the sanctuary of San Francesco. The ancient beech forest of Sasso Fratino has been part of the Unesco World Heritage since 2017.

An attraction is the waterfall of the Acquacheta River, which falls 70 meters. The sources of the Tiber and Arno rivers are both in the Tuscan part of the park.
The park includes the following animals: deer, wild boar, martyr, fox, buzzard, forest owl, barn owl and eagle.
